I have to admit growing up I didn't have Lego but the older I got the more I fell in love with Lego sets. I say Lego sets because I felt I would get more enjoyment out of building them and following the instructions than trying to come up with my own ideas. This has obviously changed now as there are a few things I felt it would make a perfect add-on to my Lego collection (be it small) right now. The thing about Lego is it can take up a lot of room, you need a place to store it or display it in order to grow upon your collection and given you have a small house it's not exactly easy trying to hold back on sets we would love that are bigger than they look. For instance, the Lord of the Rings sets are some of my main wants from Lego but where on earth do I store them?
As someone who is into botanical life, plants and bugs and all things pretty I knew these would fit perfectly in my home, James was the one who actually got me started with my Lego journey and it's slowly been getting bigger ever since, friends and family have added to the collection as well as me. As an anxious girlie, Lego is one of the things that helps me relax and have time to myself, I don't really ask for help unless I can't see what I'm doing or find a piece of Lego that's staring me right in the face (I know you know).
I have a particular style when it comes to my house, nothing really has a place, I'm always moving bits and pieces around but my theme is cute, cottage-core, colourful and girlie. Every single Lego set I own fits into my interests, the only thing that doesn't are James's sets but I would never make him hide or get rid of them, that's just mean. Out of all the Lego sets James has bought me I would have to say my current favourite is the Kingfisher, it's stunning. The water that splashes back around where it's landed is done so well! Putting it together wasn't as fun, I kept losing sight of the clear pieces.
My favourite Lego set I bought myself was the Lego Heart, you're able to create and customise it however you want and you can use it as a photo frame which is why I'm planning on getting another set, or maybe 2 so I can have an all green heart to match with my plant-loving self. As you can see from all the pictures I've added, my home is adorable and even more adorable with Lego added. I probably have a list longer than I thought and nowhere else to currently put the Lego, but I assure you, room will be made!
The great thing about Lego is it can be a learning tool, helps with fine motor skills which can improve mobility and dexterity, and can be creative, there is such a vast amount of worlds that they can open up for people both big and small. Over the years Lego has become more and more popular, and teams of people who come up with these sets know how to appeal to customers. The Lego Creator sets are some of my favourites, the 3-in-1 sets make it so you can buy that 1 set 3x just to create each of the builds, now that is a great way to build a customer base and make money.
I can remember a time when people said Legos were only for boys and it became a very toxic thing, but Lego is for ALL and for the majority of Lego lovers this is how they feel, which is what we like to see. If someone doesn't like a set they have the choice to just not buy. There is no room for toxicity in the world of hobbies, it happens far too often and makes me wonder how people have the kind of time or energy to waste on hating. Just like when people try to put an age limit on hobbies, I'm 36 and loving growing my Lego collection, i can't wait to add more.
